Some Players Will Steal Your ID,
and Some Will Lie, Cheat, or Curse

These are the Bad Guys! There are times when Carom3D has over 3,000 players online in the lobbies and game rooms. Moderators cannot be everywhere all the time, so if you encounter bad behavior there are things that you can do.

The Rules for an Account at Carom3D

When you create an ID at Carom3D's web site, you check a box and agree to their rules of behavior before you are accepted. Some consider it a mere formality, so you may want to Review the Rules again now. Study each one to understand violations and penalties. Like most of our links, exit their page when you are done and you will return to our site.

What to Expect - Some Common Problems

Stolen ID #1 - Hackers with player accounts will "advertise" in the lobby, or message you telling you about "Free Chalk" or other items if you go to their web site. There are NO free chalks! These web sites have a log-in box and they capture your secret information, and then change it at Carom3D to steal your ID! Some say they are from Carom3D, or NeoAct.

Stolen ID #2 - Players pretend to be Admin in the lobby or games, and demand your password "or you will be banned". This is a lie. Admin will never ask for your password, so this is a trick and the bad guy will change your information at Carom3D to steal your ID!

Fake Admin or Mod - Players pretend to be Admin in games, or have someone message you during the game, and demand that you exit the game now "or you will be banned". This is a lie. Admin will never ask you to leave a room unless they join the room with their admin ID. Admin will never threaten you, so this is a trick to steal your points!
Tip: To prove someone is admin, click on their ID in the lobby, or press ESC and click the ID in a game room, and verify they are truly in AdminGuild or AdminSupport.

Cursing - Some players will curse, sometimes leaving out one or two letters, and some give you the whole phrase. Calling you "noob" or "lucker" may hurt your feelings, but name calling is not the same as cursing. Carom3D will ban players that curse.

Cheating - Some players will drop from a game before the end to save points for their partner, plus a variety of other conspiracies that we cannot cover completely here. Getting points unfairly in any way is subject to ban. Others will "flood" your screen with @@@ or other characters so you can't shoot. Be aware of these, and then review the next section for an action plan.

What to Do About the Bad Guys

Capture the Evidence and Report to Carom3D
This may be easier than you imagine. Screen shots can be taken in the lobby or during a game by pressing the PRT SCR button on your keyboard. How to report is documented in detail at the Carom3D web site forums. Mods review evidence and ban accordingly.

Go to the Free Board at Carom3D, and search for "screenshot" for a list of posts with complete instructions on handling screen shots and reporting cheaters or abusive players.
